2. How do I get my photo onto Printed Treasures?
The same way you print images onto paper. The only difference is you’re printing on fabric. You will need a CD containing your patterns, or a digital camera, or a scanner. You can even download pictures from the Internet. It is recommended that before you print photos onto the fabric, practice printing your photo with a test sheet of paper.

CD
When you take your film to be developed, tell them you want a CD with your pictures. Then, pop your CD into your computer and a window will walk you through the process of viewing and printing your pictures.

Digital Camera
All cameras are different. Some have cables that plug directly into your computer, others require disks and some need both. See your user manual for more detailed instructions.

Scanner
Put your photo into your scanner and press scan. When your image is ready, print and then sew. See your user manual for more detailed instructions.

3. Do I need a computer?
No. If you own a printer that connects directly to your camera, then you do not need a traditional computer/printer set-up. To find out if your printer can connect directly to a camera or accept a camera’s memory card (CompactFlash™, SmartMedia™ and/or Sony Memory Stick®), check your printer’s manual. Otherwise, you will need a computer and inkjet printer to transfer photos onto the fabric sheets.

4. Do I need special software for Printed Treasures?

5. Do I need an iron to transfer Printed Treasures into my quilt?
No. Printed Treasures doesn’t require the use of an iron. All you have to do is print directly onto the Printed Treasures fabric, peel the paper backing, and then sew the image into your quilt, wall hanging, or special project. If you wish to use an iron in the sewing process, go right ahead.

17. Can I rinse/wash Printed Treasures after printing my image and before piecing it into my quilt or project?
Absolutely! We recommend that you prerinse your printed fabric sheets before continuing your project. This step will release any residual inks so they do not get on your project or you! After your printed fabric image has dried, rinse in cold running water approximately 30 seconds – no need to soak. After rinsing, let air dry, tumble dry, or blot with towel and iron dry with a dry iron on its cool setting. Do not twist or wring fabric.

18. Do you carry cream fabric?
No. We do not carry off-white or cream fabric for several reasons. First, images and pictures you print will stay true to color when printing on a white base. But if you still want Printed Treasures in off-white, remember with computers and printing, you can make the background whatever color you desire!

23. Will pigment inkjet printers work with Printed Treasures?
Printed Treasures has been tested with both dye-based and pigment-based inkjet inks on commercially available printers and works equally well with both.

24. Can I use Printed Treasures with a laser printer?
Printed Treasures was not designed to work with a laser printer. Laser printers use toner powder instead of a liquid ink, and we do not believe an image printed on a laser printer would be durable. In addition, the heat generated by a laser printer may cause problems with the adhesive used to attach the paper backing to the fabric, so we do not recommend using Printed Treasures cloth sheets in a laser printer.

25. Can I use Printed Treasures with a photocopier (color or black and white)?
Printed Treasures was not designed to work with Photocopiers that use toner powder instead of a liquid ink, and we do not believe an image printed on a photocopier would be durable. In addition, the heat generated by a photocopier may cause problems with the adhesive used to attach the paper backing to the fabric, so we do not recommend using Printed Treasures cloth sheets in a photocopier. Some multipurpose office machines claim to include the copier function (printer-scanner-copier, for instance) but actually use an inkjet printer to handle both printing and copying. Please check your equipment's user manual to learn if this is the case. If your multipurpose office machine uses an inkjet printer to handle both printing and copying, then you should be able to use Printed Treasures successfully in it.

26. Will Printed Treasures work with cold inkjet printers (such as Epsons) as well as more common thermal inkjet printers (such as Hewlett-Packard)?
Inkjet printer manufacturers use the terms "cold" and "thermal" to describe the different technologies used to produce the ink droplets in the printer. "Bubble Jet" printers are a type of thermal inkjet printer. Printed Treasures has been shown to work with inks used by both types of printers. Neither type of printer actually cools or heats the paper or fabric as they pass through the printer.

27. Can I use Printed Treasures in children's clothes?
Yes, you may! However, Printed Treasures is not suitable for use in children's sleepwear. Printed Treasures, like most fabrics, is not flame retardant. Please use caution near heat sources.
